Quiz from Algebra II

Skills: Top pieces of work: Math
Math has always been a subject that I have struggled with. I have always spent multiple hours doing my math homework making sure I have it right and that I can understand each step. None of this was easy for me many nights I would sit at the kitchen table ready to give up but I kept on going. For my two top pieces of work I have a homework assignment on direct and inverse variation and also a quiz graphing functions onto a coordinate plane that I completed in Algebra II. Both of these assignments where from when I was being taught by Miss Travis.
I chose these two assignments not only because I got a 100% on them but because this grade wasn’t easily given to me. I have always struggled with math but under the teaching of Miss Travis I was finally succeeding and understanding my math. Miss Travis went at a pace that I could understand and made herself very approachable when I had questions. I knew that I would not be ridiculed for a stupid question and knew that I could ask her something whether it was simple or simply to say that I was completely lost. Through her teaching I finally felt confident in what I had learned. I consistently did the daily homework and was ready for all of the quizzes in class.
Through these assignments and quizzes I learned how to be confident and consistent. Through Miss Travis’s teaching ability I learned that it was okay to ask questions and that I was able to succeed if I did! This will be helpful to me in my future career in Music Therapy because I will always have to ask patients parents about their child so that I can help them to the best of my ability. Sometimes one characteristic or one habit that the parent tells me could open the window to success with their child. If I know everything that I possibly can about the child and their habits I may be able to open doors to them, which had previously never been thought possible, through music. I will also always have to be consistent with working with my patients in order to help them! Also, in my adult life I will always have to be willing to ask for help whether it is through simply asking for directions when I am lost somewhere or through asking for help in the workplace, college or even with a friend! The ability to ask questions and realize that I need help is a virtue that I will always need and I am grateful for these quizzes and assignments that helped me realize that my success could simply be based on whether or not I asked a question.
