Skills: Top pieces of work for Science
As a junior I took Advanced Chemistry, or Chem. II, a year early. It is usually an all senior class since you take chemistry as a junior, but since I took chemistry as a sophomore I was able to take Chem. II as a junior. I really enjoyed taking Chem. II a year early because not only did I make new friends but I cemented friendships that I already had in the Class of 2015. As well as creating new relationships I learned so much in this class! Chem. II was a very interesting class but it was also very hard. I struggled immensely but pulled it off through a ridiculous amount of questions for Mr. Baumgardner and many group study sessions.
The two exhibits I have for Science are two tests from advanced chemistry. I received a 100% on one and a 97% on the other! I was extremely pleased with these grades and was grateful that my hard work had paid off. I always studied for the tests in that class and many times had group study sessions with my friends in that class. I asked what seemed like a million questions about the topics at hand and used all of the resources that I possibly could including online resources mentioned in the textbook, the teacher, friends and even online videos and power points explaining certain chapters. Now admittedly not all of my tests went as well as these two but I always tried my best to prepare and make sure I was fairly ready for the tests.
These two assignments showed me how much hard work can pay off. I spent multiple nights staying up late studying equations, theories, and simple rules! I struggled with Chem. II but also knew that if I worked hard I could achieve the grade I wanted. By the end of the year I ended with a 90% in Chem. II as a junior. Honestly? I’m very proud of that because I took the course a year early and managed to pull my own weight. This course will help me in my future career because I will always have to work hard in order to be successful I can’t be lazy and drag my feet and think that I will be successful! To keep my job and be successful with it I will need to be proactive! I will need to use my resources and apply myself as much as possible in my career. Music therapy will be something that I love but it will also be hard work because simply getting to the point of being a music therapist will come with certification tests and years of college! In my adult life I will have to use the same work ethic that I used in Chem. II I will have to use my resources, study, and stay focused in order to make it through college be able to do what I want to for a living. Also life can simply be hard sometimes and I will have to have the motivation and work ethic to keep pushing forward even when times get tough. I know that I will always have to work hard, utilize my resources, and apply myself in order to be successful in both my career and adult life and I am grateful for my advanced chemistry class for showing me that hard work really can pay off.
